The challenge
In the small town of Weilheim a consortium of owners and doctors tenders the competition for a medical centre to be located in the heart of the town, right next to the local hospital. The aim is to gather various medical practices at one place, making use of synergies with the hospital.
The solution
The design of Hoyos Architekten aims to integrate the new building into the historical development of the surroundings, taking into consideration heights and the stylistic device of gables, but at the same time offering a modern interpretation. The schematic design offers a footbridge to unite the 7 practices and two special medical stores with the hospital and an underground parking to mitigate the parking situation, as well as direct access for ambulances.
Taking into consideration sustainability issues the energetic concept aims to become independent of fossil energy by building in a compact way, integrating high insulation standards and heat recovery systems, energy saving LED lighting, implementing grey water use and geothermal energy.
